No Plans To Extend SoE Beyond November, Says PM

By Newsroom

When the current State of Emergency comes to an end at the end of November, government is not likely to go to the Parliament seeking an extension.

At a media conference following his return home on Saturday night, Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley said it was not his government’s intent to extend the SoE into December.

The State of Emergency which was originally due to come to an end in August, had been extended once in the Parliament, through a simple majority.

Had the government wanted to extend the SoE for another three months beyond November, it would have required the Opposition’s support to do so.
