Opposition MP Suspects Arson As Fire Destroys Moruga/Tableland Constituency Office

By Newsroom

Member of Parliament for Moruga Tableland, Michelle Benjamin is describing an early morning fire which broke out at her constituency office as a deliberate act.

Benjamin says she was awakened with news about the apparent arson attack at around 1am.

“This is sabotage at the highest! God is in control but no one was injured,” she posted to her Facebook page.

The losses are estimated to be worth $300,000.

This is not the first incident Benjamin has had to deal with since being elected as a first time MP in a constituency formerly controlled by the People’s National Movement.

Back in October there was also a break-in at the MP’s office.

Police and fire officials are continuing investigations.
