Over $4 Million Worth Of Marijuana Seized

Officers of the Special Investigations Unit (S.I.U.) conducted an intelligence-led anti-crime operation in the Northeastern Division under the supervision of Snr Supt Edwards, Supt Etienne, and ASP Lynch, with support from the Inter-Agency Task Force (I.A.T.F.) between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. yesterday, November 26.

During the course of the operation, officers intercepted a vehicle travelling westbound along the Churchill Roosevelt Highway, in the vicinity of the Ibis Building, opposite Courts. A search of the vehicle was conducted, which resulted in the discovery of 40 packages of compressed Colombian “creepy” marijuana, weighing 20.74 kilogrammes.

The drugs carry an estimated street value of TT$4.4 million. The seizure was coordinated on the ground by Insp Ammon. One male suspect has been taken into custody in connection with the find.
