Pastor preaches like normal after TT$28 million haul

By Newsroom

It was one for the record books.  The TT$28,046,500 that was seized from a  Pastor on New Year’s Eve by the Financial Intelligence arm of the TT Police Service is the largest haul under the circumstances.

Police obtained a court order to seize the money, which was tired in 29 boxes, after Pastor Vinworth Dayal showed up at the Central Bank, asking that the money, all of which was in old $100 bills, be converted to the polymer notes.

Pastor Vinworth Dayal informed the Central Bank that the money was his personal fund  gained through tithes  from the  Third Exodus Assembly Church

Cops are expected to question the  Pastor as they seek to find out the source of funds.

Pastor Dayal, is seen in the photo,  giving the sermon at his church on New Year’s Day.  He did not mention the incident. A video recording of the sermon is included on the church’s website.
