Pennywise Robbery: Attorneys Representing Soldier Write To Ag. Top Cop Over “Arbitrary” Detention

By Newsroom

Attorney’s representing the soldier who was detained by police for questioning in connection with Monday’s fatal robbery at Pennywise Plaza in La Romaine have written to Acting Police Commissioner, Mc Donald Jacob, calling for the man’s release.

The suspect, who was last attached to Crest Camp Army Base in La Romain, was taken into custody on Tuesday after turning up at the San Fernando Police Station to report his vehicle- the one used in the heist- stolen.

In the habeas corpus document sent on Wednesday, they argue that the their client’s detention is arbitrary and not in keeping with the relevant judicial learning.

As an alternative, the lawyers have suggested that the soldier be released into the custody of the the T&T Regiment.
