Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley leaves for Barbados today, accompanied by his wife, to attend the official swearing-in of Her Excellency Dame Sandra Prunella Mason as the first President of Barbados.

Finance Minister Colm Imbert will act as Prime Minister until Dr Rowley’s return.

Meanwhile, Prince Charles received a red carpet welcome and a 21 gun salute as he arrived on the island just before midnight last night to oversee the transition to a Republic status on Tuesday, November 30th- the same day Barbados will celebrate 55 years of Independence.

Prince Charles was welcomed by Prime Minister Mia Mottley and Governor General Dame Sandra Mason, who is set to become the first President of Barbados.
