When the House of Representatives sits next week Wednesday, government will move to discontinue the current State of Emergency- roughly two weeks ahead of time.
The announcement was made by Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley during Saturday’s Covid-19 media conference.
The SOE, which came into effect on May 16th, was originally put in place for a period of 15 days.
Government then extended it for a period of three months, to end on August.
Through a simple majority in the House of Representatives, a second extension was granted in August, extending the State of Emergency until the end of November.
The removal of the curfew means, most prominently, the public will not be under a curfew and will therefore be able to move about past 10pm, without being arrested or fined.
