By Newsroom

At 35 years old, Alderman Saleema Mc Cree Thomas has marked her spot in history, becoming the first female Mayor of the Borough of Point Fortin,

The post became vacant after former Mayor, Kennedy Richards Jr., became an elected Member of Parliament for the constituency.

Mayor Mc Cree Thomas serves on the PNM’s Public Relations Committee, in her capacity as the PRO of the Point Fortin Constituency.

Her appointment as Mayor continues the trend of youth leading in Local Government.  Her  predecessor, Mr, Richards, was appointed at 32 years old.

In a post to Facebook, the People’s National Movement congratulated Mayor Mc Cree Thomas on her appointment, wishing her success in her execution of the role.
