Police Arrest 52 People In 24 Hours For Breaching Curfew

In an update on Tuesday, the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service revealed that over the last 24 hours, a total of 52 arrests were made for breaking curfew under the State of Emergency. 

Monday saw the first of two designated ‘no movement’ days under the SoE, as announced by Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley over the weekend as a measure to limit the movement of people on the public holiday. 

Over the same 24 hour period, police also ticketed five people for failing to wear a face mask, in accordance with the Covid-19 Public Health Regulations. 

To date, there have been 11,498 people ticketed for this offence, while 350 people have been arrested for breaching curfew. 

At this time, according to  further statistics from the TTPS, there are 262 officers currently testing positive for the virus. with 1,087 others in quarantine.
