Police Arrest Five In Connection With Aranguez Robbery

Five men, ages 18-28, have been detained by police in connection with a report of robbery with aggravation which occurred yesterday in Aranguez.

Police also seized a motor vehicle and a firearm which are believed t have been used to commit the crime. 

At 2.30 pm on Wednesday, a man was sitting in his White Nissan Wingroad motor vehicle which was parked along Freddy Street, Aranguez, when two men allegedly pointed a firearm at him and announced a hold up.

The man, police were told, became fearful for his life and handed over a bag which contained an undisclosed amount of cash and other personal valuables.

The suspects then escaped in an awaiting motor vehicle.

Police officers who were on foot patrol in the area were alerted to the incident and an all-points bulletin was issued for the suspects.

Detectives of the San Juan Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and officers of the North-Eastern Division Emergency Response Patrol immediately responded and later intercepted a black Nissan Almera with five male suspects along Johnny King Road, Aranguez.

Police subsequently searched the vehicle in which they allegedly found one Glock 19 pistol, a magazine containing 14 rounds of nine millimetre ammunition and a quantity of cash.

The men were later arrested and taken to the San Juan Police Station, pending further enquiries.
