Police Arrest Man On WASA Compound With Firearm And Ammunition

A man was arrested at the Water and Sewerage Authority’s Laventille facility on Thursday, after he was found to be in possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition.

WASA confirmed the incident in an official statement on Thursday afternoon.

The Authority says the suspect is attached to one of its Contractors, stressing that the individual is not a direct employee at WASA.

The suspect was taken into police custody and the matter is now under investigation.

The Authority thanked the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service for its swift action and underscores that it in no way condones any illegal and potentially harmful activity being conducted at any of its facilities.
