Police Arrest Seven For Breach Of COVID-19 Regulations

A total of seventeen people were arrested by police on Thursday, during an exercise in the Northern Division.

Of the arrests made, seven were for breach of the Public Health Regulations- an offence which carries a $50,000 fine and six months in prison.

Three other people were arrested for gang related offences and six others for outstanding maintenance warrants.

One man was also arrested for larceny of a quantity of
premium alcohol, keys and automatic gate controls.

On Wednesday, 10 people were held after they were found bathing in the Bayside Towers in Cocorite.

They are being charged in accordance with Section 3 (1) (d) of the Public Health (2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCov) (No 14) Regulations 2020 which states, that during the specified period, a person shall not, without reasonable justification, “be found at or in any beach, river, stream, pond, spring, or similar body of water, unless the presence of that person is essential for the carrying out or provision of a service specified.”
