Police Arrest Ten Venezuelans For Illegal Entry

Police have arrested ten Venezuelan nationals who attempted to enter the country illegally. A rifle and a quantity of ammunition was also seized during anti-crime operations conducted in the South Western and Port of Spain Divisions yesterday.

According to the TTPS, an exercise was conducted by personnel of the Inter-Agency Task Force between 7 am and 9 am, on Monday 8th September, 2025, during which they proceeded to a building in the Nelson Street Plannings, where a search was conducted.

During the search officers found one rifle loaded with a magazine containing 22 rounds of 5.56 ammunition, wrapped in plastic on the rooftop of the building. The exercise was spearheaded by ACP Hazel, Snr. Supt. Sooker, Supt. Ramsook and ASP Singh.

Meanwhile, officers of the South Western Division intercepted a vessel approximately one mile from shore in the Erin district, around 7:05 am, yesterday. Ten Venezuelan nationals, ages 7 to 25, were detained and officials of the Immigration Department and the Children’s Authority informed.

Investigations are ongoing into the above matters.
