Police officers of the Central Division conducted a series of intelligence-led anti-crime operations across Freeport, Chaguanas, and Longdenville on Monday, 14th July, 2025, resulting in the seizure of an illegal firearm and ammunition and the arrests of two suspects, including one wanted for robbery with violence.
Yesterday, officers of the Freeport Criminal Investigations Department (CID) conducted an intelligence-led operation within the Freeport Station District. Acting on intelligence, officers proceeded to a bushy area off Carlsen Field where they observed a man holding a firearm. Upon looking in the direction of the officers, the suspect dropped the object and fled into nearby bushes. Despite a chase, the suspect escaped. Officers recovered a black Mini Uzi Submachine gun fitted with a magazine containing two rounds of 9-mm ammunition.
Later that day, between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m., the Central Division Task Force North, Chaguanas Crime Patrol and Chaguanas Municipal Police conducted an anti-crime operation in the Chaguanas Policing District. Based on real-time intelligence, officers converged at the Chaguanas Market, resulting in the arrest of a known offender currently on bail with conditions, including wearing an electronic monitoring device for trafficking marijuana. The 21-year-old suspect was also found in possession of 34.8 grams of marijuana.
He is also wanted in connection with several traffic offences, escaping lawful custody from the Municipal Police, and for breaching High Court bail conditions. Additionally, between 5:45 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., officers of the Longdenville Police Post proceeded to Neilson Street, where they arrested a 16-year-old suspect, in connection with a report of Robbery with Violence which occurred earlier that day. Investigations are continuing.
