The SIU acting on additional intelligence and in collaboration with the Central Gang Intelligence Team and the Customs and Excise Division, commenced an operation to identify the items contained in the said container.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Intelligence and Investigations), Mc Donald Jacob, thanked the various units for their continued commitment in ridding the streets of these weapons. He said the two recent seizures show that weapons and ammunition are coming through the legal Ports of Entry.

Mr Jacob said with the recent formation of the Central Intelligence Bureau (CIB) and with the cooperation of the public, the TTPS continues to conduct intelligence-led exercises throughout the country.

This follows a similar seizure at the Piarco International Airport last week. No arrests were made in both instances.
