Three of the five detainees who recently escaped from the Immigration Detention Centre (IDC) were successfully recaptured during a coordinated roving field search operation in the Arima Police District. The exercise, which took place between 9 p.m. on Tuesday, 24th June and 2:30 a.m. today, was spearheaded by ACP Singh, W/Snr. Supt. Maynard-Wilson, and W/Supt. Guy Alleyne.
The operation was coordinated by Cpl Diamond and involved officers from the Arima Criminal Investigations Department, the Northern Division Task Force – North, Arima Municipal Police, the TTPS Air Support Unit, and officers of the Immigration Detention Centre.
Following intelligence received, officers cordoned off the farm areas between Aripo Road to the west and Smith Field to the east. Officers conducted a comprehensive search across several abandoned houses and garden plots.
This led to the successful, incident-free recapture of three escapees:
1. Christian Jose Rivero Parades, 28 years
2. Honatan Jesus Carreno, 38 years
3. Samuel Gonzales, 24 years
Commissioner of Police, Allister Guevarro, expressed his deep gratitude to the members of the public who responded to the clarion call to assist law enforcement in locating the escapees.
The CoP stated, “I want to extend heartfelt thanks to the public for their cooperation and vigilance. Your timely information and support were instrumental in our swift recapture of the escapees. This is a clear example of how strong community-police collaboration leads to meaningful outcomes in public safety”.
