Officers of the TTPS swiftly recovered a stolen motor vehicle and arrested two suspects following a high-speed chase in the Scarborough area on Tuesday night.
According to a statement on the incident, around 9:10 pm on April 2, 2025, a 36-year-old barber of Mary’s Hill, Plymouth, reported to the Scarborough Police Station that his red Mitsubishi Lancer had been stolen. In response, ERP officers on mobile patrol received an alert from the TTPS Tobago Operations Centre (TOC) at approximately 9:15 p.m.
Shortly after, around 9:20 pm, officers spotted the stolen vehicle along Milford Road in the Bon Accord area near Four Roads. When they attempted to stop the vehicle using their sirens, the driver sped off, heading east along Milford Road. A pursuit ensued, leading to the Claude Noel Highway in the vicinity of Lambeau.
At approximately 9:35 pm, the driver of the alleged stolen vehicle lost control and collided with a Honda City motorcar and a Kia H100 van. The impact caused the stolen vehicle to overturn. Officers on the scene reported that one of the suspects brandished a firearm and fired in their direction. The officers returned fire, and two of the suspects fled on foot. Officers gave chase and successfully apprehended one suspect nearby, while the other managed to escape. A third suspect was held at the crash site.
Both detained suspects were taken to the Scarborough General Hospital for medical treatment. The occupant of the Honda City, a female police officer, was also transported to the hospital for medical treatment. Investigations are ongoing under the supervision of ASP Lee Tang.
