Police Seize $500, 000 Worth of Marijuana in Tobago

Two men were arrested on Monday night following the seizure of more than 13 kilograms of cannabis and a quantity of cash during an anti-crime operation in Tobago.

According to the TTPS, at about 7:05 p.m. on Monday, February 2, 2026, Cpl. John, along with a party of officers from the Tobago Divisional Task Force (East), acted on intelligence information relating to firearms and ammunition on the eastern end of the island.

The operation was strategically directed by ACP Pierre, Snr. Supt. Kirk, and Supt. Joseph. It was coordinated by ASP, Operations Bacchus, Insp. Mohammed, and Sgt. Harris, and supervised by Sgt. Mc Millan. During the operation, officers took up strategic positions along Bloody Bay Road, Roxborough, where they intercepted a silver Nissan Tiida, which was travelling along the roadway.

The vehicle was occupied by two men. In the presence of both occupants, officers conducted a search of a partially open black backpack located near the centre console between the front seats. The search revealed thirteen (13) plastic-wrapped rectangular packages containing cannabis.

The seizure was later weighed and amounted to 13.32 kilograms with an estimated street value of $ .5M. Officers also seized TT$9,921, US$677, €10, and a quantity of gold-coloured jewellery. Both men were arrested and conveyed to the Roxborough Police Station pending further investigations.
