Police Seize Firearms, Ammunition and Cannabis Plants

A series of intelligence-led police operations across Trinidad has resulted in the seizure of firearms, ammunition, illegal drugs, camouflage gear, and multiple arrests, as officers continued intensified anti-crime strategies under Operation Festive Shield and other targeted initiatives.

According to the TTPS, on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, a targeted Roving Road Check and House Search Operation was conducted in the western area of the North Central Division. Around 8:55 pm, officers responded to information regarding a man armed with a firearm at Mt. Dor Extension Terrace, Champs Fleurs. A search was conducted at the home of a 33-year-old man, where officers discovered one shotgun hidden in the bedroom ceiling, along with three (3) 12-gauge cartridges wrapped in a pair of camouflage trousers. The man was arrested and charged for: Possession of Firearm, Possession of Ammunition, Possession of Camouflage clothing.

The exercise was initiated by ACP Singh, Snr. Supt. Gift, and officers of the NCDTF-West.

In a separate incident, acting on information received at 10:50 pm, officers conducted Operation Festive Shield throughout the Las Lomas Police District. Officers proceeded to Ragbir Gunness Street, St. Helena, where they recovered one revolver and one (1) round of .38 ammunition. The exercise was spearheaded by Snr. Supt. Bhagwandeen.

Another intelligence-driven anti-crime exercise conducted between 3:00 am and 8:00 am in the Southern Division on December 2nd, 2025, resulted in the following arrests:

A 25-year-old man of Brown Trace, Monkey Town 3rd Branch, New Grant– arrested for being in possession of 12 cannabis plants, exceeding the legal limit.

A 24-year-old man of Samuel Cooper Road, Indian Walk, arrested on enquiries under Emergency Powers Regulations.

A 44-year-old man of Indian Walk, Moruga Road, was arrested for being in possession of 9 cannabis plants and 68 grams of cannabis.

A 32-year-old man of Indian Walk, Moruga Road, was arrested for possession of 297 grams of cannabis.

The operation was coordinated by Snr. Supt. Simon, and targeted firearms, robbery, drug trafficking, gang activity, and known offenders within the division.
