Two men were arrested, and two firearms and quantities of ammunition and narcotics were seized, during separate anti-crime exercises conducted in the Central and Northern Divisions yesterday.
In the first exercise, officers of the Chaguanas Criminal Investigations Department, along with personnel of the Central Division Task Force, Central Operations and the Canine Unit, proceeded to the Cunupia district between 4 am and 8 am, on Tuesday, 6th January, 2026.
There, they conducted a search of a house at Munroe Road, where they found one Glock pistol, three magazines and 56 rounds of ammunition, along with 6.6 kilogrammes of cannabis.
The drug has an estimated street value of TT$724,330. One male suspect who was found on the premises at the time of the search was arrested in connection with the finds.
Snr monitored the exercise. Supt. Bhagwandeen, Supt. Glodon and coordinated by ASP Hernandez and ASP Harrilal, all of the Central Division. Meanwhile, in the Northern Division, officers of the Anti-Extortion Unit proceeded to the D’Abadie district around 6:05 am yesterday, where they searched a house.
During the search, officers found one Glock pistol loaded with a magazine containing 15 rounds of ammunition. A 46-year-old male suspect who was at the house at the time of the search was arrested in connection with the find.
Investigations are ongoing into the two matters mentioned above.
