An anti-crime exercise conducted at Dundonald Hill and Cocorite on Friday resulted in two illegal firearms being seized.

According to police reports, the man jumped a galvanized fence when he spotted the officers. A brief chase ensued, and the suspect dropped the knapsack before escaping into nearby bushes.

A search of the knapsack revealed one mini Draco with a loaded magazine containing 35 rounds of 7.62 ammunition was seized.

The officers returned to the same house where another man, said to be a known offender, was found in possession of one Glock 17 pistol loaded with 14 rounds of 9mm ammunition, a camouflage jacket, rubber gloves and a mask. He was arrested.
