Police Seize Two Guns in the North Eastern Division

Police have seized two firearms and quantities of ammunition during anti-crime operations conducted in the Port of Spain and North Eastern Divisions yesterday into early this morning.

According to the TTPS, in the latest incident, officers conducted an exercise in the Morvant district between 1 am and 5 am, today, Wednesday 2nd April, 2025, during which they proceeded to the Second Caledonia area.

There, they conducted a search of a bushy area where a suspect was last seen standing. The search resulted in the discovery of one assault rifle loaded with a magazine containing three rounds of 5.56 ammunition.

Meanwhile, officers conducted an exercise between 10:45 am and 1 pm yesterday in the Morvant and Laventille districts. The exercise resulted in officers finding one Beretta pistol, loaded with a magazine containing 15 rounds of ammunition. Fourteen additional rounds of assorted ammunition and a quantity of cannabis were also discovered.

And, fifteen rounds of 9mm ammunition were found in an abandoned lot at St. Paul Street, East Dry River, Port of Spain by officers who conducted a search exercise between 9 am and 5 pm,
yesterday.

The above operations were spearheaded by ACP Collis Hazel, Snr. Supts. Spence and Thom, Supts. Ramsook, Nicholls and Jankie and ASPs Singh and Soodeen.
