By Newsroom

Training for all  Trinidad and Tobago national football teams have been suspended with immediate effect, for a minimum of 14 days.  Upcoming International friendly games for the Men’s Senior National teams  have been cancelled

The Carifta Games have been cancelled and Jamaica has shut down its highly popular Second Schools Track and Field Meet.

Here in Port of Spain, however, the organizers of the annual MILO games for Primary Schools, carded for  March 17 and 18th, say the games will go ahead as planned, according to the sponsors.

This will be held at the Hasely Crawford Stadium.

CONCACAF’, meantime has suspended the Scotiabank Champions League.

The Carifta Games carded for Bermuda, from April 10-13  was postponed because of the threat of the spread of the Coronavirus.

The intention is to place the Games back on the calendar at the shortest possible date after an all-clear is given to resume normalcy.

Earlier this week, Antigua and Barbuda released a statement indicating that they would not be participating in either Carifta track and field or swimming competitions that were to be held in Bermuda and Barbados, respectively.

In addition, President of the Bahamas Aquatics Federation Algernon Cargill said the three-time defending champions would not be attending the swimming championships. They also stopped short of saying they won’t send a track team.

Even the West Indies four-day cricket championship which is in the eighth round, out of ten,  is in doubt.   But Cricket West Indies did not say when the games will stop.  From India comes news that the two remaining India-South Africa ODIs in Lucknow and Kolkata were on Friday called off owing to the COVID-19 threat as the country’s sports calendar continued to go haywire because of the global pandemic. This is only the second time in three decades that an international cricket series in India has been called off midway, the last being in 2014 by the West Indies team over a pay dispute with its Board.
