Prison Officers Call For Meeting With PM As Fears Rise Over Alleged Hit List

By Newsroom

The Prison Officers Association is calling for an urgent meeting with Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley, in the wake of two prison officers being gunned down over the span of just three days.

The Association says they’ve been alerted to an orchestrated plot by inmates, which threatens to have 13 officers killed before year’s end, if prisoners are not relocated from the Wayne Jackson Building of the Maximum Security Prison.

Hours after sounding the alarm on Monday, there were reports that the home of yet another prison officer was shot at last night at Clementry Street, El Dorado.

No one was killed. One of the suspects, however, was shot at by police and is said to be under police guard at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex, receiving attention.

Meantime, nine suspects have been detained in connection with Monday’s killing of prison officer Nigel Jones in Siparia.

This is according to Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mc Donald Jacob, who says his officers are on top of the case.
