Members of the travelling public who display flu-like symptoms will be discouraged from using public transportation, according to Minister of Works and Transport Rohan Sinanan.

Responding to a question in the House of Representatives this afternoon, Sinanan said that persons with symptoms will be advised to self-quarantine.

“With immediate effect, all PTSC buses will desist from using AC and windows will remain open because fresh air circulating reduces the opportunity for the spread.

“We will be providing gloves and masks for drivers and Customer Service Representatives,” the Minister stated.

‘In addition, the PTSC will ensure that  all passengers, sit two rows behind the drivers to limit the spread of the virus

“All PTSC buses will be sanitized before and after every trip,” the Minister said, without revealing whether this has already been implemented.

‘ We will be installing  hand sanitizer machines  on all terminals and ensuring that  soap is  available at all washrooms,

With regard to the inter-island sea bridge, Mr Sinanan said the terminals at Port of Spain and Scarborough will be sanitized before and after every sailing and that hand sanitizes will be available onboard.
