Quarantine Facilities for TT Nationals Arriving From Suriname

By Newsroom

The  60 T&T Nationals  who were stranded in Suriname since the borders closed on March 22  are due to arrive home on Friday morning after weeks of negotiating, through their attorneys, an exemption from the Minister of National Security.  Upon arrival at Piarco International they will be taken to the UWI South- Debe Campus where they will be quarantined for 14 days. The South West Regional Health Authority said the new facility is “ideally located and represents one step closer to home – for our patients. The spacious facility has a 94 bed capacity, providing accommodation to aide in their stay, under the care of warm and friendly healthcare professionals.” “The management and coordination of the facility will be done by the SWRHA, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and other key stakeholders, such as the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force (TTDF). The UWI- South Debe Campus is the second facility created in the parallel health care system for COVID-19 after National Racquet Centre in Tacarigua where 33 nationals who returned from Barbados just over a week ago remain quarantined. The Home of Football in Couva is used as a step down facility. See photos  by SWRHA.
