By Newsroom

The Public Health Regulations  have been amended to extend the closure of bars and dine-in restaurants until April 30th. Drivers will now fall under the regulations   and have been mandated to carry only half the number passengers which their vehicle is licensed to carry or face a fine of TT$50,000 or six months in prison. And persons can be fined if they are found at any beach, river, stream or spring, unless they are deemed essential. Gathering for religious or ecclesiastical services where the number of persons exceeds ten is also prohibited. “Until April15th, you shall not be at work place unless it is an essential service,” National security Minister Stuart Young warned on Friday morning. “For those deemed essential you are asked to bring out workers who are absolutely essential, you are expected to operate with the bare essentials,” Young warned. The Regulations state you can only be in the work place if it is not practicable to work from home “Gathering in public places has been reduced from 10 to five, in any area outside of the essential services. “But gathering outside of banks and supermarkets etc. is not limited, Young explained. “Two days ago when the Commissioner of Police  reached out to me, I called all  the Chief executive Officers (CEO) of the  major banks and  asked them to implement markings  for social distancing and they have implemented it,” the Minister said. At the same time he urged supermarkets and pharmacies to mark outside of stores and cashing areas using the social distancing policy of six feet.
