Restaurants Will Be Shut Down; New Operating Hours for All Essential Businesses

With effect from tomorrow, Tuesday, April 6th, all restaurants will be closed until April 30th, according to Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley who announced a series of new measures to “intensify the compliance of the instruction.”

While saying that “by April15, it is quite likely and certainly possible that we may be in a worse position than we were in,” the Prime Minister announced the following:

  • The stay at home order will go until April 30th
  • Effective immediately government is recommending persons in public wear masks over mouths and nostrils. The Ministry of Heath will distribute cloth masks by the end of the week.
  • Hardwares, Electrical and Plumbing stores will be open from 8 am to Noon from Monday to Saturday.
  • Retail services, markets supermarkets fruit stalls, vegetable stall, Bakeries and parlors and Fish vendors that provide food and medicine should be closed to the public by 6 pm
  • Wholesale stores for food and medicine will be closed by 4pm
  • Pharmacies close by 8pm..
  • Schools will not reopen by April 30th
  • The date for the SEA Exams will be reassessed
  • Religious gatherings will be reduced to five
