Rio Claro Man Denied Bail Following Violent Robbery

STEWART BOOCHOON aka ‘Stewee’ of Navet Village, Rio Claro, was denied bail by Magistrate Nizam Khan after pleading not guilty to the charges of Robbery with Violence and Malicious Damage.

The 40-year-old man is the main suspect in a report of Robbery with Violence on December 11.

He is expected to reappear before the court on January 23rd, 2023, to answer the charges.

According to the TTPS, Bochoon was charged yesterday by PC Sutherland of the Rio Claro Criminal Investigations Department (CID).

“According to police reports, at 9 am on December 12th, a man was driving his vehicle to his house after gardening when he stopped along Rampaul Trace, Junction, Navet Village, Rio Claro, due to traffic.

Upon stopping, the driver saw a man who he knows approaching him who allegedly demanded that he handed over money. The suspect reportedly cuffed the driver on the right side of his head who became fearful and gave cash to the suspect. During the incident, the driver’s spectacles was also damaged.”

Police were informed and the driver was taken to seek medical treatment. Following a search by Rio Claro CID detectives, the suspect was later located and arrested in connection with the report.
