Roget’s Attorneys Pen Letter To PM Over “Libelous” Facebook Post

By Newsroom

Ancel Roget has followed through on a threat to initiate legal action against the Prime Minister, with lawyers representing the JTUM leader penning a precaution protocol letter to Dr. Rowley.

Earlier this week, Mr. Roget accused the Prime Minister of making defamatory and libelous statements against him, by linking him to protests by scrap iron dealers.

“These charges amount to a very serious libel against our client and have caused him considerable distress and embarrassment,” Roget’s lawyer Kiel Taklalsingh said in the pre-action letter.

“While we are mindful that in the cut and thrust of the political gayelle, tempers often flare, we wish to reiterate that spurious allegations which are calculated to gain quick political points and which are unsupported by verifiable information, ought to be deprecated.” he added.

Mr. Roget is seeking a public apology from the Prime Minister, to be published in all daily newspapers.

Roget’s attorney also claimed his client is entitled to substantial compensation for the injury to his reputation.
