Rowley Retains Leadership Of The PNM With Landslide Victory

Winning 92% of votes cast in the party’s internal election, Dr. Keith Rowley has retained his position as Political Leader of the People’s National Movement. 

Confirmation of his landslide victory was announced during a media briefing held by the PNM’s Election Supervisory Committee on Monday afternoon. 

Dr. Rowley amassed a total of 8,424 votes.

Of his three opponents, Karen Nunez-Tesheira was second, earning 345 votes (4% of the electorate)

The other leadership challengers, Ronald Boynes and Junior Barrack, won 243 (3%) and 99 (1%) votes respectively.

The other two main positions of the party also saw landslide wins, with Stuart Young the selected choice for Party Chairman, while Dr. Nyan Gadsby-Dolly has been declared PNM Vice Chairman.

A total of 9,903 votes were cast in the party’s three-day  internal election, according to the Election Supervisory Committe.

November 26th, the first voting day, saw 3,582 votes cast. 

The second day (November 27th), there were 5,506.

And on December 4th, at the party’s convention, 815 members cast ballots.
