Safe Carnival, Except for Moonlighting Cops

By Newsroom

Top cop Gary Griffith has publicly reprimanded police officers who were delinquent during the carnival period.

Even with “a 90%-95% turn out of officers” and “a secure safe and successful carnival” where the statistics proved that crime was at an all-time low, Griffith admonished the delinquents when he addressed the police weekly press briefing on Wednesday.

“We intercepted cops and police vehicles who were escorting individuals with a long police record out of fetes,” Griffith revealed.

“Police vehicles were used to moonlight by transporting friends or questionable elements coming out of Chaguaramas,” he further explained while emphasizing that action will be taken.

When asked what are the possible consequences the top cop suggested “bringing a vehicle out of an area of responsibility,” “abandoning your post, for example, if you are assigned to the Central Division and you are in the Western Division….and then there is the abuse of State property.”
