Sangre Grande man due in court for murder of URP supervisor

A Sangre Grande man is expected to appear before a Sangre Grande Magistrate today, charged with the murder of Preston Brian Taylor and the attempted murder of a male victim, which occurred on Monday 10th February 2020.
According to the TTPS:

“VERN CARABALLO, 24, a mason, of Eastern Main Road, Guaico, Sangre Grande, was also charged with possession of firearm and possession of ammunition, following advice received from Director of Public Prosecutions, Roger Gaspard SC, on Monday 17th February 2020. 

Mr. Taylor, 44, a Project Supervisor, employed with the Unemployment Relief Programme, of Alexander Street, Valencia, was at Eastern Main Road, Sangre Grande, on Monday 10th February 2020, in the company of another man, when they were approached by a lone gunman who shot at them.“

Taylor was hit in the neck and chest and died at the scene, while the other man was also hit in the neck. The gunman then escaped. Caraballo was arrested on that same date by officers of the Sangre Grande Criminal Investigations Department in connection with the incident.
