Schools warned about overage players

Thirty-two bands will compete in the Junior Panorama on Sunday which will be an all-day affair at the Queen’s Park Savannah.(See the Order of Appearance below.)

That includes ten primary schools, twelve secondary schools and ten junior bands from the major steel orchestras across the country.

And schools, particularly,  have been warned by the organizers against using overage players.

“We had to drop 25 points last year because of overage players, “Auburn Wiltshire explained during the draw for positions on Thursday morning.

He told bands that they must use the holding bays before going on stage, at which point they will be scrutinised.

Prizes will be given for the Best Student arranger in the Secondary School Category and the  Youngest Drummer among the Primary Schools will receive the Sonilal Samaroo Award named after the Supernovas drummer best known as “Killer’ who is the brother of the late Jit Samaroo.
