Second Suspect In Andrea’s Murder Has Died

By Newsroom

A second suspect in the kidnapping and murder of Andrea Bharatt has died.

Joel Balcon, who spent the last few days in the Intensive Care Unit of the Mt. Hope hospital, died this afternoon.

This was confirmed via a statement from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service on Monday afternoon.

Police say Charles had been injured after being subdued as he allegedly attempted to escape custody following his arrest last Sunday.

His death comes one week after the first suspect, Andrew Morris, also died at hospital.

The two are among a total of seven people who were detained in connection with Bharatt’s kidnapping and murder.

The Arima Magistrate court clerk was last seen on January 29 as she entered what she believed was a taxi, to head to her home along the Arima Old Road after finishing work.

Her body was found six days later down a precipice off the Heights of Aripo.
