Serena Williams claims her first title for the year

Serena Williams has won the ASB Classic in Auckland, New Zealand, after defeating her American counterpart Jessica Pegula 6-3, 6-4.

This is her first title since becoming a mom. Williams who is now 38-years-old, gave birth to daughter Alexis Olympia on September 1, 2017.
Williams is also the winner of 23 Grand Slam singles titles.

She told US media: “It’s been a long time. I think you could see the relief on my face. It’s pretty satisfying just to get a win in the final.” She added that she hopes to keep performing so she can achieve all her goals this year. She is hoping for a record 24th grand slam title.
