Seven Arrested During Anti Crime Exercises

Police have arrested seven suspects for various offences including firearm related matters, during anti-crime exercises conducted in the Northern and Southern Divisions yesterday.

In Area North of the ND, Task Force officers conducted an exercise between 4 pm and 8 pm, on Thursday 10th July, 2025, during which they proceeded to the Arima district, where they stopped and searched a vehicle with two male occupants. The search resulted in the discovery of one Glock pistol loaded with a magazine containing 17 rounds of ammunition. The two suspects, ages 31 and 28, both of Arima, were arrested in connection with the find.

The exercise was spearheaded by Snr. Supt. Maynard-Wilson, Supt. Etienne and coordinated by ASP Pitt and Insp. Gadar. Meanwhile, in the Southern Division, personnel of the Inter-Agency Task Force, conducted an exercise in the Gasparillo district between 11 pm on Thursday 10th July, 2025 and 2:30 am on Friday 11th July, 2025.

During the exercise, the five suspects all of the district were arrested for various offences including Possession of Firearm, Possession of Ammunition Robbery with Violence, Robbery and Possession of Cocaine.

The exercise also included personnel of the South Operations Unit, the Guard and Emergency Branch, the Gasparillo Police Station, the Gasparillo Criminal Investigations Department and the Canine Branch.

The operation was spearheaded by Snr. Supt. Spence, Supt. Ramsook, ASP Singh and supervised by Insp. (Ag.) Alexander. Investigations are ongoing into all of the above matters.
