Seven Venezuelan migrants, found to be in this country illegally, were detained by police in Moruga on Wednesday night.

Police were on patrol during curfew hours, when they noticed a blue Serena motor vehicle along the Moruga Main Road.

The vehicle was subsequently intercepted following which several persons alighted from the vehicle and began running in several directions.

Police immediately gave chase and were able to apprehend the group.

They have been sent for medical assessment and will be handed over to the Immigration Division for further processing.
