Six Arrested, Marijuana and Gun Seized Over the last Three Days

Six people have been arrested, and a firearm and a quantity of marijuana were seized, during a warrant exercise conducted in the SouthWestern and Central Divisions over the past 72 hours.

According to the TTPS, between 1 am and 8 am on 31st July 2024, officers of the South Western Division conducted a Warrant Exercise. During the exercise 14 warrants were executed and six persons, aged 30 to 68-years-old were arrested on outstanding affiliate and TAC warrants.

Snr Supt coordinated the exercise along with Teewarie, Supt Cumberbatch, ASP Forbes, ASP Haynes, ASP Corrie and Insp Harripersad. The exercise was carried out by warrant officers of the Point Fortin, Cedros, La Brea and Guapo police stations respectively.

Meanwhile, Central Division Task Force (CDTF) officers conducted an exercise between 2 pm and 8 pm, yesterday, during which they proceeded to Church Street, Couva, where they searched. There they found a quantity of marijuana in a black plastic bag. The same party of officers then proceeded to California, where they found and seized one rifle.

This exercise was co-ordinated by Snr Supt Simon, Supt Glodon, ASP Ablacksingh and Insp Sylvan and included members of the CDTF Area South and assisted by the Canine Unit.

Investigations are ongoing into the above matters.
