An anti-crime exercise in the North Eastern Division on Monday led to the arrests of five men and one woman, in connection to an illegal firearm.

Western Division Task force officers were on patrol during 11am and 2pm when, based on information, they proceeded to Lady Young Road, Morvant, in the vicinity of the walkover.

There, the officers observed two vehicles parked in the roadway- a white Nissan Navara occupied by a man and woman and a silver Nissan Tiida occupied by men.

According to police reports, the driver of the Tiida vehicle attempted to drive off on spotting the marked police vehicle, however the vehicle was intercepted.

A search of the car revealed an AR 15 assault rifle loaded with ammunition.

All six persons were detained and conveyed to the Four Roads Police Station, where investigations are continuing.
