Officers of the Siparia Criminal Investigations Department (CID) arrested two men early this morning for the illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition during a routine mobile patrol in the Santa Flora district.

According to the TTPS, around 2:40 a.m. on Sunday, May 12th, PCs Austin and Rampersad were conducting patrols along the S.S. Erin Road in the direction of Siparia when they observed two males acting suspiciously near the Fyzabad Field Road.

The suspects are a 16-year-old of Rifle Range Road, Palo Seco, and a 20-year-old of Webber Trace, Palo Seco, who were seen fidgeting with a bag before quickly attempting to walk away whilst looking in the direction of the marked police vehicle.

The officers stopped and searched the individuals. A search of the 16-year-old resulted in the discovery of:

One 9mm Smith and Wesson
One 9mm magazine
Three 9mm rounds of ammunition

A search of the 20-year-old uncovered:

Two rounds of 9mm ammunition

Both suspects were arrested for Possession of a Firearm and Possession of Ammunition and taken into custody for further investigations.
