SORT Head Charged With Misbehavior In Public Office

Head of the Special Operations Response Team (SORT), Inspector of Police Mark Hernandez has been formally charged with misbehavior in public office in relation to the  unlawful assault by beating of David Ottley Jr.,  one of the suspects involved in the Andrea Bharatt kidnapping and murder case.

Hernandez- who is one of the nominees for Deputy Commissioner of Police- was charged following advice received from Director of Public Prosecutions, Roger Gaspard, SC, on Monday, pursuant to the Police Service Act, Chapter 15:01.

The accused was arrested by officers of the Professional Standards Bureau, Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Region 2, and Northern Division Criminal Investigations Unit, last  Wednesday.

Hernandez was charged by Cpl (Ag.) Marcano of the Maloney Police Station.
