Supermarkets Get Permission For Round The Clock Opening During Christmas Season

By Newsroom

Groceries and supermarkets will be allowed a 24-hour opening this holiday season, as government tries to eliminate the Covid-19 threat associated with large crowds of persons doing their holiday food shopping.

This was the sole relaxation announced by Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley during his press briefing on Saturday.

Presently, groceries and all other business establishments are mandated to close at 10pm, in keeping with the Covid-19 Public Health Regulations.

“Masked people going to supermarkets we’ll allow those places to open continuously. What that will do, it will spread out the number of people who intend to go to the grocery because your time of going there is between anytime, any day,” Dr. Rowley said.

The measure will come into effect from December 10th to January 3rd, 2021.
