Taxi Driver To Appear Before Magistrate In Ashanti Riley Murder Case

Luciano Quash, the PH taxi driver from San Juan charged with murdering 18 year old Ashanti Riley, is scheduled to virtually appear before a Port of Spain Magistrate today, on the same day the young woman was laid to rest.

The accused has been in the custody of police since December 1st, after he was identified as the driver of the taxi Ashanti entered into before she was taken to a spot in La Canoa, Santa Cruz and brutally murdered.

The murder is believed to have taken place sometime between November 29th, when Riley entered his vehicle and December 4th, the day her body was found.

He was formally charged with the crime last Thursday.

He will also answer to charges of sexually penetrating a minor in March of this year. While in police custody, he was interviewed by officers of the Child Protection Unit (CPU), on Friday  and placed on an Identification Parade on Saturday, where  he was positively identified.
