Teachers To Receive New Salary from Next January

By Newsroom

All members of the Teaching Service are expected to receive their new salaries from January 2026, according to Trinidad and Tobago Unified Teachers’ Association (TTUTA) president Crystal Ashe.

He disclosed that the decision was made after a meeting with the Chief Personnel Officer (CPO) yesterday, December 10, at the CPO’s office in St Clair.

Ashe also said a Cabinet note is expected to go before Cabinet today and, once approved, would pave the way for the increases.

“There is a Cabinet note going in tomorrow (today). So once that Cabinet note is received and it is discussed, we will hopefully get the new salary by January,” he said.

However, he also noted that backpay will take a little longer.

“We are pleased to say it was a very fruitful meeting, very cordial, very professional and quite a number of things would have come out of it. One thing our membership will be waiting patiently to hear is that we have made some headway with respect to your new salaries in January,” he added.
