Nearly two days after he fell off a pirogue , the body on 14 year old Matthew Sookoo has been recovered.

The teen reportedly fell off a vessel approximately six hundred (600) feet from shore and disappeared in the vicinity of Fullerton, near Cedros, on Saturday.

His body was found by officials of the Trinidad and Tobago Coast Guard in the vicinity of Columbus Bay.

He had been fishing with his father and other men when the tragedy occurred on Saturday.

His father, Marlon Sookoo, said while search efforts were still ongoing, that the family had accepted his son’s fate and were only praying that his body be recovered.

This is the second such incident to happen this month. 

The body of 30 year old Qadir  Shah was found on March 12th, nearly one week after he disappeared in the waters off Turtle Rock on the North Coast of Trinidad.
