Law enforcement arrested ten individuals for different offenses and amounts of illegal items, including firearms, ammunition and drugs seized during several ongoing State of Emergency Operations across the country.

According to the TTPS, in the Western Division, officers conducted an exercise between 6 pm on Thursday 2nd January, 2025 and 1 am on Friday 3rd January, 2025 in the Maraval district that included Task Force officers and detectives of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID).

During the exercise, the officers proceeded to a bar at Morne Coco Road, where they conducted a search which resulted in the seizure of a quantity of cannabis. The officers next went to an area in the vicinity of the WASA Water Treatment Facility, where they found a black plastic bag containing 12 rounds of ammunition.

Yesterday, between 11:30 am and 2:30 pm, an intelligence-led operation took place in the Arima district. During the exercise, officers of the Arima Intelligence/Operations Team, proceeded to Samaroo Village, where they conducted a search of a house.

The search resulted in the discovery of one Glock pistol loaded with a magazine containing 13 rounds of ammunition. Two minors, ages 17 and 16, who were in the house at the time of the search, were arrested.

Meanwhile, in the Eastern Division, an Operation was conducted in the Valencia district between the period 12 pm and 4 pm, on Thursday 2nd January, 2025, which included personnel of the Valencia CID, Special Operations Unit, Warrant Section and Valencia Police Station.

During the exercise, officers arrested three persons on outstanding warrants.

In the Sangre Grande and Manzanilla districts, Task Force and CID officers searched the homes of five suspects, which resulted in the discovery of a quantity of cannabis and the arrest of one suspect.

In the Rio Claro district, officers arrested four persons for varying offences including Possession of Cannabis for the Purpose of Trafficking, Possession of Ammunition, Possession of Cocaine and Larceny Dwelling House.

Investigations are ongoing into all of the above matters
