Dr. Faith B Yisrael has been sworn in as the new Deputy Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly.
Yisrael was sworn in by acting President Christine Kangaloo; President Paula-Mae Weekes is currently in London attending the funeral service of Queen Elizabeth II.
The new Deputy was nominated by Chief Secretary Farley Augustine during a special sitting on Monday morning, following the resignation of Watson Duke last Thursday.
In an unexpected twist, Duke, who was present at the proceedings, was nominated for re-election by Minority leader Kelvon Morris, of the PNM.
That nomination held no ground, however, as Morris’ seconder, Petal Daniel-Benoit, was not recognized by the Presiding Officer, given she is not an elected member of the THA.
