The earthquake which shook Jamaica was felt as far away as Miami

The earthquake which shook parts of Jamaica was felt as far as Miami. The earthquake, which has now been recorded at 7.7 magnitude struck, south of Cuba, and triggered evacuation warnings across the Caribbean. According to reports office workers were seen fleeing in Miami’s financial district.

Over the last hundred years, only five other earthquakes of magnitude 6 or higher have occurred within 400 kilometers of today’s epicenter. There are no immediate reports of damage in Jamaica or in Havana either.
