The Health and Wellness Division of the Tobago House of Assembly reported a single new case of Covid-19 in its update on Sunday, marking the first case on the island recorded in 30 days.

The new case is the only active case in Tobago, given the 155 other patients have recovered for the virus.

Assemblyman Tracy Davidson-Celestine, Secretary of Health, Wellness and Family Development urged Tobagonians not to relax in its fight against the virus.

“This first case, that we know of, after 30 days, shows how vulnerable we are at a moment’s notice. The Tobago public has been observing the protocols, now we just need to go one step forward and get vaccinated. Be practical, be proactive and be vaccinated,” she said.

“We are a long way from winning this war on COVID-19. Fear and worry have continued to fatigue us, but individual understanding and action are of far greater use to us now.”

“At this stage vaccination is critical to the long-term solution. We must ignore the noise, fake news and misinformation on the vaccine. I urge every person living in Tobago to take the vaccine and be part of the solution,” she ended.
